Case: Measurement of fish oil
The challenge:
A customer was looking for a level guard (top detector) for 6 tanks of fish oil. The tanks are 11 meters high and approx. 3 meters in diameter. The fish oil forms a foam layer during filling. Danova has provided a radar solution for continuous level measurement, but the customer wanted extra security against overfilling. Several other level guards had been tried, but all failed due to the foam formed during filling of the silos.
The solution:
Danova has many years of experience with capacitive level switches. We were convinced that RFnivo RF3100, was the right solution. The customer placed one in each of the 6 tanks, and was impressed with the simple installation, but especially the autocalibration. RF level accurately detects the fish oil and ignores the foam layer that forms. RF level is connected to the customer’s PLC so that the “time delay” that can be activated in the quick start menu is not necessary. RF level has been operating since day 1, with no readjustment or issues. The customer is of course happy to have finally found a solution to the “foam” problem.
